Goal can be changed at restart

8 (with goal choice). Fair upfront price — pay once, play forever. Ad free. Slide tiles to order (enjoy "wooden click" sounds when move a tile or when a tile cannot be moved), shake to start new game (and enjoy "rattle" noise).

Sound on/off button (remember switch Ring/Silent position too). Player can choose another goal after 1 minute (or keep current goal). Fits "one-finger game": all tiles and buttons are reachable by the thumb.

8 max (extended) . At least 10 more goals: numbers ordered vertically and in reverse order.

8 light (or "mini"). Very plain design. No goal choice. FREE.

Good candidate to add AdMob. Banner at the bottom, far from control buttons (actually one real "control button" only: sound on/off. However, tiles also "interactive buttons"). And full-screen "interstitial" when game restarts. Perfect combination.

Win screenshot (in game description on AppStore) helps to clarify goal configuration.

4x4 classic board, 15 wooden tiles

Classic "15"

The most studied size. Game 4x4 became canonical (wikipedia).

4x4 - classic "15" - app allows to restart after 2 minutes of gaming. Wooden sounds, shake to shuffle. No goal choice.

Classic goal configuration: tiles arranged in ascending order left to right, top to bottom, keeping open position in the bottom-right corner. I restricted starting configs by all with open position in the bottom-right corner. It gives15! and half of them are solvable.

PLANS: 5x5, 6x6 ... 10x10

Half-way done in 15 minutes

5x5, 6x6 ... up to 10x10 (about 30 minutes to solve).

Larger than 10x10 is possible, but on iPad mostly — tiles became pretty small on iPhone screen to move by finger (and to recognize the numbers). Allows to restart after 15 minutes.

(I like that 10x10 board fits double-digit tile numbering: the largest is 99.)

5x5 finally appeared as addition to 3x3

Now game "8 (goal choice)" has name "8/24 (goal)" (September 2024)

You can choose 3x3 or 5x5 board (I skipped classic 4x4 named "15").

3x3 board comes with 3 goals, 5x5 comes with 5 goals.

Price the same $0.99, no ad, no in-app purchases.
